UNR and UNC UNF UNS all belong to United Threads ( also called American threads) , they have same basic thread style , thread-pitch series are also same .The difference is UNR’ external thread’ thread root designed should be plain arc connection,  thread roots of UNC UNF and UNS threads can be plain or inverted round randomly. Therefore，UNR threads just appear in  external threads , there is no internal UNR threads.

There are some critical fasteners ask for high fatigue resistant , then UNR threads were developed during the 1950s,              UNR threads are mostly used in fasteners which will be produced in high volume and made by rolling

In order to reduce the rate of threading tools crest wear and to improve fatigue strength of a flat root thread, the design profile of the UNR  threads has a non-reversing continuous curved root tangent to the thread flanks at a depth of 0.625 H.
